There’s no doubt in the fact that MS Dhoni is one of the greatest cricketers India have produced thus far. The veteran is the only skipper to have won all the ICC Trophies. In fact, in his very first stint as the national skipper, he helped India to glory in the 2007 T20 World Cup in South Africa. Ever since, he hasn’t looked back and has kept on garnering one laurel after the other for the Indian team.

In 2011, he gave India their second 50-overs World Cup after 28 years with a victory over Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium. A couple of years later in 2013, he carved a triumph for the Men in Blue in the Champions Trophy in England, beating the hosts at the Edgbaston in Birmingham. After a memorable run, Dhoni is now 38 years old and is at the fag end of his glorious international career.

He was last seen in the 2019 World Cup where he couldn’t take his team home in the semi-final versus New Zealand at the Old Trafford in Manchester. The Jharkhand-born is currently on a sabbatical and as per reports, he will only return to the cricket field next year. He has already missed games against West Indies and South Africa, and won’t be a part of the Bangladesh T20Is as well.

Dhoni starts flexing his muscles

Meanwhile, there have been constant speculations over when he will hang his boots from the highest level. Dhoni hasn’t talked about his return at the highest level, keeping everyone on their toes. The selection panel, led by MSK Prasad, recently said that they have moved on from Dhoni and will keep backing Rishabh Pant for the upcoming games despite the latter’s repeated failures.

Also, as per reports, it’s been learned that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will only be picking Dhoni for his farewell series. Amidst the talks of his retirement, Dhoni has returned to the gymnasium at the JSCA Stadium in Ranchi. where he was seen training before making a comeback. Recently, it was known that Dhoni will be training with the Jharkhand Under-23 boys.
