The anticipation behind IPL 2020 had several reasons. However, more than anything everybody was waiting for the comeback of MS Dhoni. The wicketkeeper-batsman had not played a single game for India since semi-final of last year’s World Cup against New Zealand.

It was expected that Dhoni will play for CSK this season and also make a comeback into the international side for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020. The world event is supposed to be played in the month of October and November this year. So, it would have given enough time for former Indian skipper to make a comeback into the Indian side and also cement his spot going into the T20 World Cup

However, after the outbreak of the coronavirus, which continues to delay the start of the IPL schedule. There have been many questions raised regarding the future of the former Indian captain. If the IPL is cancelled as per the reports, then it could happen to halt his comeback.

Even India’s head coach Ravi Shastri had revealed a few months back that Dhoni’s comeback would depend a lot on his form in the IPL. So if there is no IPL, there wouldn’t be a comeback for the 38-year-old.

He has been training really hard, reveals Dhoni’s friend

But, in a recent interview, a close friend of the wicketkeeper-batsman from Ranchi revealed that he still wants to play for India as he is not ready to retire. He also said that Dhoni gets angry whenever somebody asks him about retirement.

“He [Dhoni] has worked even harder in the last few months before everything stopped. I haven’t seen him doing agility training so intensely ever. He knows he is not getting younger and perhaps that is why training even harder to keep himself fit,” Dhoni’s friend revealed in a talk with the ABP news.

His friend also said that he has been training quite intensively to get ready for the IPL and an India come back. We understand that the person didn’t want to reveal his identity. However, reports suggest that he was one of the friends who appeared in the biopic of the Indian star– MS Dhoni: The untold story’.

“He has proved everyone wrong when no one backed him. Now there are millions of fans to back him. So he will take his chances for sure,” added Dhoni’s friend. “Mahi gets angry when we ask him questions on his retirement. He still feels he is the fittest of all and quickest wicket-keeper in India.”
