Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni is widely regarded as one of the finest cricketers to have ever graced the game and his startling records back the fact. While Dhoni’s big-hitting skills tormented many bowlers, his sharp glove work kept batters on the field. The cherry on the cake was his cucumber-cool mind which allowed him to make impeccable decisions. Riding on his prowess, India clinched several prestigious titles including three ICC trophies.

Though Dhoni is no more an active international cricketer, the Chennai Super Kings star still has a massive fan following. However, the Ranchi-born cricketer, unlike many of his contemporaries, isn’t an active user of social media. He hardly makes any updates on his Twitter and Instagram pages. In fact, his last post on the micro-blogging website is dated January 8 earlier this year.

MS Dhoni’s Twitter account no more verified

Although he still has over eight million followers, Dhoni’s account is no more verified. Yes, you read it right. Twitter recently removed the blue tick from the wicket-keeper’s Twitter page which sent netizens in frenzy. For the unversed, celebrities and renowned personalities have blue ticks on their social media pages. This is to denote their account is verified.

With Dhoni being such a massive figure in world cricket, he also had a verified account. However, Twitter recently removed the verified badge. While the official reason isn’t known yet, it is speculated that the cricketer’s unavailability on the website prompted the officials take this step. Notably, Dhoni’s Instagram and Facebook are still verified.

Meanwhile, social media users were left in shock after coming across the update and they subsequently expressed their disappointment. Dhoni fans bashed  Twitter officials for taking such a major step against the two-time World Cup-winning captain. Hence, it would be interesting to see if Dhoni or Twitter officials react to this news.

Dhoni, who retired from international cricket last year, was last seen in the now-postponed Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. Although he wasn’t at his prime with the bat, his glovework and decision-making were precise as ever. The legendary cricketer would currently be gearing up for the second half of IPL 2021, which kickstarts on September 19 in UAE.

Meanwhile, let’s look at how netizens reacted
