Former Indian skipper and wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni was last seen in coloured clothing during team’s semi-final clash against New Zealand. Following the defeat at the hands of the Black Caps in the showpiece event in England in July, MS Dhoni was not seen in cricketing action again. He didn’t prefer to play for the team and made himself unavailable for the team selection. However, he had other interesting plans in mind.

The 38-year-old experienced campaigner took a sabbatical from international cricket only to join Indian army regiment. Post that, he was spotted in Indian national cricket team’s dressing room after Virat Kohli and his troops registered 202-run innings victory over South Africa in the third Test match in Ranchi. Then again, he was seen training with Jharkhand’s under-23 team in Ranchi.

Almost everybody in the cricketing fraternity thought that there were positive signs of MS Dhoni making a possible comeback to international cricket but that wasn’t the case. The veteran skipped team’s tour of West Indies including the home series against South Africa, Bangladesh, West Indies and Sri Lanka respectively.

“I have had a conversation with MS Dhoni”: Ravi Shastri

Meanwhile, India head coach Ravi Shastri who recently had a conversation with the World Cup-winning captain gave clarity on MS Dhoni’s future. Though Ravi Shastri didn’t reveal everything as he cited his conversation as confidential, he did disclose that Dhoni may soon call it quits from One-Day Internationals. According to Ravi Shastri’s statement, the former Indian skipper would end ODI cricket soon.

“I have had a conversation with MS and that is between us. He has finished his Test career, he may soon end his ODI career, In all probability, he will finish one-day cricket,” India head coach Ravi Shastri was quoted as saying by Sportstar.

Not a long ago, when MS Dhoni was asked to give clarity on his future, he made it clear by saying: “Don’t ask me till January.” The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly had earlier told that champions like MS Dhoni don’t finish quickly.
