"There is no doubt in my mind that once MS Dhoni hangs his boots, Pant is the guy (to replace him)," Billings quoted.

Delhi Daredevils batsman Sam Billings was all praise for his DD teammate Rishabh Pant. Billings is currently with the Daredevils roster for his second stint at the Indian Premier League. He has certainly been enjoying his time in the middle ever since he made a fifty on IPL debut. Billings has made quite a lot of friends in the Delhi camp and seems to be enjoying their company.

One player who has apparently impressed him the most is the wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant. Over the last few months, there have been dark clouds hovering over the future of the former Indian skipper and the current wicket-keeper MS Dhoni. Many believe that it is the end of the road for the legendary cricketer. However, at the same time, there are others who feel there is no replacement for Dhoni at the moment.

As per the recent quotes in the Zee News, Billings cited that Rishabh Pant is arguably the best replacement available for MSD. He noted that the way Pant stands up to the stumps is very much similar to MS Dhoni. Adding further, he remarked that perhaps the words sound to be too big to be said at the moment, but there is certainly the possibility.

“He [Pant] is phenomenal, both as a batsman and a keeper, just looking at the way he has done in these first few games. He was standing up to the stumps, almost Dhoni-esque,” quoted Sam Billings.

“There is no doubt in my mind that once MS Dhoni hangs his boots, Pant is the guy (to replace him). Big words I know, but you just see him and it is there,” the English batsman conceded.

Talking about the recent form, Pant has had a dream run. He scored a triple ton this year in the Ranji Trophy and then slammed the fastest century in the tournament history in another fixture. At the moment, the selectors have a huge pool of wicket-keepers to pick from. Apart from MS Dhoni and Pant, they have the likes of KL Rahul, Naman Ojha, Dinesh Karthik, Parthiv Patel and Wriddhiman Saha.
