Indian limited-overs’ skipper MS Dhoni was present at the unveiling of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) trophy earlier today. Also present was the commissioner of the TNPL as well as stakeholder and former chairman of the International Cricket Council, N Srinivasan. Apart from the fact that the league is expected to fill the void left by IPL franchise, the Chennai Super Kings, the tournament will feature some of the best talents in the state. Moreover, this will be only the second domestic and regional league, the first being the Karnataka Premier League.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni is now expected to board the flight to Lauderhill Florida where he will lead the Indian T20 unit against a formidable West Indies side that boasts of the returning stars such as Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo, and Andre Russell. Although the 35-year old relinquished his Test captaincy in 2014 in the fateful tour of Australia, Dhoni is expected to remain the skipper for at least the next three years until the Indians play in the 2019 edition of the World Cup.

Dhoni also has a plethora of commitments in the film industry with his biopic on the verge of release soon. With the trailer itself receiving in excess of 14 million views, one can only imagine how the box office will open soon.

The 35-year old’s presence in the unveiling of the trophy would have certainly felt like a bittersweet emotion for himself as well as those present at the unveiling especially after the ban handed out to the Super Kings.
