Former Indian cricketer and the skipper Sourav Ganguly has hailed MS Dhoni for his leadership skills and has termed him as ‘remarkable’. He heaped praises on him and also opined that the current captain Virat Kohli is a good captain and India has a good chance to emulate the success of 2011 World Cup. under his captaincy. The president of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has kept himself busy in the cricketing affairs despite retiring from the game a few years ago.

Ganguly is also the key member of Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) which picked the head coach of the Indian cricket team recently. He was at the helm of the controversy as well when the committee which also includes Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman selected Anil Kumble for the coveted position. However, the team has been doing well ever since then although the legendary leg-spinner resigned as the coach following his rifts with Kohli.

Ganguly wishes to become the coach?

In an interview to India Blooms, Sourav Ganguly revealed some of the interesting insights and also opened up about his chances of coaching the Indian team in future. “I don’t know, it’s too early to say. See, only one person gets appointed as coach. I have gone from different roles, from one to the other, so it depends on opportunities,” he said when asked about his plans of coaching the Men in Blue in future.

He also opined that Dhoni and he had good teams to lead which made things easy for them and Virat also has a good team. “It never used to, but the last two leaders were good. I took over in 2000 and carried on till 2006 and Dhoni took over in 2008-09 till 2015. These were the two captains from east over a period of fifteen years. He did about seven years and I did about six years. I don’t know the reason, it’s just that they were good captains, there’s no hard and fast rule. Both were good players and ultimately became good captains. Dhoni is a remarkable captain. Yes, I think a captain is as good as his team. Both Dhoni and I had good teams, Virat Kohli has a good team. So, I think he will do well,” he added.
