Indian wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni has had a torrid time of late. Back in July when the Men in Blue played a three-match ODI series against England, the veteran was booed by the audience at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground. He hasn’t fired with the bat ever since, though his prowess with the keeping gloves has been impeccable, to say the least.

The 37-year-old is currently playing the ODI series against Jason Holder’s Windies and has churned out a couple of cameos. However, he was dropped from the T20I squads against the Caribbean team as well as Australia later this year. Nevertheless, the Jharkhand-born cricketer is definitely in the scheme of things as far as the 50-overs format is concerned.

He is one of the legends of Indian cricket

India are scheduled to play ODIs against the Aussies and New Zealand in the coming months and the experienced campaigner is expected to be a part of the teams bearing in mind the fact that he is most likely to play the 2019 World Cup in England and Wales. Meanwhile, Bharat Arun, India’s bowling coach, said that Dhoni will get rhythm back into his batting.

“He is one of the legends of Indian cricket. His striking ability is for everyone to see. He has done it many times before. He is extremely experienced and I’m sure given the opportunities, he will come good,” Arun was quoted as saying in Indian Express.

Arun also praised the young left-arm speedster Khaleel Ahmed, who was stupendous the other night against the Windies in Mumbai and finished with career-best figures of 3/13, ripping apart the visitors’ middle-order. He also sounded happy with the bench strength of India’s fast bowling.

India are currently leading the five-match series 2-1 and the final encounter is set to be played tomorrow in Thiruvananthapuram.
