The AB de Villiers-led Tshwane Spartans were at the edge of starting their MSL campaign with back to back defeats before they pulled off a 1-run win against Paarl. They will now be up against Durban Heat which will be their 3rd straight game away from home. Spartans have struggled for a death overs bowling option which could be sorted with the inclusion of Lungi Ngidi. However, they will miss Rilee Rossouw for the next few days as the left-hander will be travelling to UAE for the T10 league.
Durban Heat, on the other hand, went down against Cape Town Blitz in their opening game. Durban had no answer to Anrich Nortje’s express pace while batting and Asif Ali’s blitz that snatched the game from their hands. Durban’s batting will be boosted by with the inclusion of David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen who can accelerate any point of the game. Their bowling line-up is already settled which comprises of as many as five South African Internationals.
Match Details:
The 6th match of the Mzansi Super League will be played between Durban Heat and Tshwane Spartans at the Kingsmead in Durban.
The match starts at 2:00 PM local time (12:00 PM GMT) (5:30 PM IST).
Pitch Condition/Report:
The game between Durban and Cape Town on Sunday was the first T20 at the Kingsmead in 2018. Only one of the six T20s played last year here ended with a result. The last game witnessed some movement for the pacers as the game was played in the morning which could repeat in the DH-TS game. Seven of the previous 11 completed T20s here were won by the teams batting second while two of the remaining four games were decided by a margin of five runs.

Probable XI:
Durban Heat:
Albie Morkel (C), Hashim Amla, Morne van Wyk, David Miller, Heinrich Klaasen, Temba Bavuma/Khaya Zondo, Prenelan Subrayen, Vernon Philander, Kyle Abbott, Keshav Maharaj, Marchant de Lange.
Tshwane Spartans:
AB de Villiers (C), Gihahn Cloete (WK), Dean Elgar, Tony de Zorzi, Theunis de Bruyn, Sikandar Raza, Jeevan Mendis, Robbie Frylinck, Rory Kleinveldt, Lungi Ngidi, Andrew Birch.
Power Picks:
Gihahn Cloete has a weird batting graph in the T20 format as he followed up a couple of good innings with numerous failures. The 80 he made in the previous game was his maiden T20 fifty and could well score another good knock going by his career graph. The South African Internationals David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen will surely make a difference given the fact that they could bat in top five for the hosts.
Best Playing XI:
Heinrich Klaasen, AB de Villiers, David Millers, Theunis de Bruyn, Dean Elgar, Albie Morkel, Sikandar Raza, Albie Morkel, Lungi Ngidi, Keshav Maharaj, Marchant de Lange.
Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:
Even if AB de Villiers comes out to bat after 15 overs, he has the ability to score a half-century. He will be a direct pick for multiplier option given the way he has batted in this tournament so far. Theunis de Bruyn opening the innings will help his consistency which will reflect in the team’s results. Sikandar Raza can be considered as vice-captain as he will have a key role to play in the Spartans team.
Expert Advice:
Hashim Amla doesn’t inject any bit of confidence after he made only 15 from the 24 balls he faced in his comeback game. His struggles prior to the injury suggest he can be skipped until he plays a good knock. Alongside the South Africans, the two Zimbabwe players in the Tshwane Spartans will be joining the league from Tuesday.
Probable Winners:
Tshwane Spartans are expected to register their second straight win leaving Durban Heat with two defeats in two games.
