After starting the tournament with a close loss, Durban Heat bounced back in their second game against Tshwane Spartans in a rain-affected game. They will be playing their first away game of the tournament in Port Elizabeth against the Nelson Mandela Bay Giants, who are also hosting for the first time in this competition. The Giants started their campaign with a win before losing to Cape Town Blitz in a game that was interrupted by floodlight failure.

The return of the South African Internationals strengthened the Durban’s batting with the inclusion of David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen. Their batting is already strong as a result even Temba Bavuma couldn’t find a place in the XI. Durban’s bowling attack comprises of four bowlers who have played all formats for South Africa thus far. The Bay Giants have got the services of Imran Tahir and Chris Morris from the second game.

Match Details:

The 8th match of the Mzansi Super League will be played between Nelson Mandela Bay Giants and Durban Heat at the St George’s Park in Port Elizabeth.

The match starts at 7:00 PM local time (5:00 PM GMT) (10:30 PM IST).

Pitch Condition/Report:

Port Elizabeth might as well produce a low-scoring game going by the record of the recent T20 games played here. The chasing sides have won five of the last six T20s at this venue. It would have been six in six had Dolphins not lost by one run in the last T20 game here.

Squads:

Nelson Mandela Bay Giants:

JJ Smuts (C), Imran Tahir, Jason Roy, Chris Morris, Junior Dala, Christiaan Jonker, Aaron Phangiso, Ben Duckett, Sisanda Magala, Ryan McLaren, Heino Kuhn, Marco Marais, Dyllan Matthews, Lizaad Williams, Rudi Second, Carmi le Roux.

Durban Heat:

Hashim Amla, Rashid Khan, David Miller, Heinrich Klaasen, Kyle Abbott, Keshav Maharaj, Khaya Zondo, Albie Morkel (C), Marchant de Lange, Vernon Philander, Brandon Mavuta, Temba Bavuma, Morne van Wyk, Okuhle Cele, Sarel Erwee, Tladi Bokako.

Probable XI:

Nelson Mandela Bay Giants:

JJ Smuts (C), Marco Marais, Heino Kuhn, Ben Duckett, Christiaan Jonker, Rudi Second, Chris Morris, Ryan McLaren, Aaron Phangiso, Junior Dala, Imran Tahir.

Durban Heat:

Albie Morkel (C), Hashim Amla, Morne van Wyk, David Miller, Heinrich Klaasen, Khaya Zondo, Prenelan Subrayen/Tladi Bokako, Vernon Philander, Kyle Abbott, Keshav Maharaj, Marchant de Lange.

Power Picks:

The skipper of Giants, Smuts, hasn’t been at his best with the bat yet but played a good hand in both the games with the ball. Marco Marais is yet to find his feet in the MSL and is one big knock away. Klaasen is expected to bat among the top four which will improve his effectiveness and impact on the result.

Best Playing XI:

Heinrich Klaasen, Ben Duckett, David Miller, Heino Kuhn, Marco Marais, Chris Morris, JJ Smuts, Albie Morkel, Imran Tahir, Keshav Maharaj, Marchant de Lange.

Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:

The likes of Chris Morris and Tahir can be considered for vice-captain role while JJ Smuts should be ideal as captain as we expect him to get going with the bat. Albie Morkel can also be a decent option for one of the multiplier options.

Expert Advice:

Hashim Amla got a decent start in the last game but needs one big knock before being considered in the fantasy XI.

Probable Winners:

Nelson Mandela Bay Giants are expected to make a good start at home with a win.
