Mumbai Indians has been one of the most celebrated and followed teams in the history of IPL. Also, Sachin Tendulkar being with the franchise as their icon player right from the first season has helped them garner a lot of attention. Though they failed to come to terms with the demands of T20 cricket in the first two editions of the tournament after which Mumbai Indians have been on a role.

They won the coveted title for the first time in 2013 under the leadership of Rohit Sharma who was handed over the captaincy midway through the tournament by Ricky Ponting.
