The much-awaited season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is just a couple of days away. The fourteenth edition of the competition will get underway on April 9 with the mouthwatering clash between reigning champions Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore in Chennai. All eight teams are looking strong on the paper.

All the eight franchises have covered their bases by adding new players to their respective squads during the auction in February. Mumbai Indians will have a chance to become the first-ever team to win the IPL thrice in a row as they eye a record-extending sixth title. Chennai Super Kings, on the other hand, will be looking to make a strong comeback after their poor outing in IPL 2020.

Having not won the title since 2014, Kolkata Knight Riders will be desperate to win the title too. Sunrisers Hyderabad have also not won the IPL since 2016 while Rajasthan Royals have not laid their hands on the title since 2008. The likes of Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals, and Punjab Kings will be looking to end their long wait for their first-ever IPL title this year.

Vaughan’s prediction on Mumbai Indians

With all the teams looking really strong this year, one can expect another cracking edition of the IPL. And while only time will tell which team manages to go all the way in IPL 2021, former England skipper Michael Vaughan has revealed his prediction. The former cricketer-turned-commentator has predicted that Mumbai Indians would win the title once again.

Taking to Twitter, Vaughan also stated that if Mumbai Indians fail to win the title due to ‘some bizarre loss of form’, Sunrisers Hyderabad would win it as he tweeted: “Early #IPL2021 prediction … @mipaltan will win it … if by some bizarre loss of form then @SunRisers will win it …”

Here is the tweet from Michael Vaughan:

Well, Vaughan seems to be a big fan of the Mumbai-based franchise. The former England cricketer had recently said that the Mumbai Indians team is stronger than the Indian team. His comments had come after India’s loss to England in the first match of the five-match T20I series last month.
