Bangladesh’s One-Day International skipper Mashrafe Mortaza believes that there should be no pressure put on the young left-arm sensation Mustafizur Rahman in any format of the game. The captain believes that the left-arm seamer has all the necessary elements in his game to become a champion bowler in the future.

Although, he also went to tell that the left-arm quick must work harder in the future to stay consistent and efficient as he started his International career. The left-arm seamer had a dream start to his career, bagging the most number of wickets (11) by any bowler in the first two matches of their career.

An injury to the shoulder ruled out him out for quite some time which has affected his form as seen recently in the Indian Premier League. His game since his return has been less effective and less efficient with economy rates skyrocketing up to 11 an over.

The 21-year-old conceded was taken apart for as many as 34 runs in the 2.4 overs he bowled in the IPL. Although, the signs are worrying it is just the early stages of the tournament.

“What he got in the early stage of his career was extraordinary so what is happening to him now is what is supposed to happen to any bowler. It is unbelievable that he got so many wickets in the first few games of his international career.

Now he has to work hard to take wickets. Batsmen are reading him better. Every team has top-quality computer analysts who find out his strengths and weaknesses,” Mortaza said, ahead of their encounter against the Irish side.

“Injuries have also bothered him, and he has just recovered from the latest injury a few months ago. He is only 19 or 20 (21). So with everything in consideration, he is having a tough time of late.

So we also shouldn’t put him under pressure. He has already proved that he is Bangladesh’s future. If we can keep him relaxed by not weighing him down with expectations, he can be a wonderful asset for us in the next ten years,” he added.

The likes of Ashish Nehra and David Warner have come charging to the support of young Mustafizur. It is almost certain that the left-arm seamer might be presented with another opportunity which the bowler must take with both his hands after his failed attempt at an earlier chance.
