After a series of complications, Cricket South Africa (CSA) has finally managed to get their own T20 carnival the Mzansi Super League on the global T20 roster. The cricketing board has been pondering over having their own T20 league, designed on the lines of IPL, BBL, etc. for quite some time now. Had things gone according to the plan, they should have had their homegrown league rolling out last season. But complications at the eleventh hour saw their fortunes sway to the darker end.

Now, they have managed to restructure their plans and recently announced their own T20 league named Mzansi Super League T20 (MSL T20). The tournament is set to take place in the month of November and December this year. Six teams will feature in the competition. On October 17, an American sports-styled player draft was held to determine the squads of all the teams.

The six participating franchises picked native marquee players and then bagged an international marquee player as well. Chris Morris, Lungi Ngidi, Andile Phehlukwayo, Tabraiz Shamsi, Dane Vilas and David Miller were the ones who bagged mega deals in the competition. They secured million-rand deals in the drafts.

The international marquee picks at the player drafts were Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo, Eoin Morgan, Dawid Malan, Jason Roy and Rashid Khan. Among the big names that went unsold in the drafts were some T20 big names like Lendl Simmons, Dwayne Bravo, Sam Billings, and Shoaib Malik.
