Under the instructions of the Supreme Court-appointed Lodha Committee, chaired by Justice RM Lodha, N Srinivasan is not eligible to hold an office bearer’s post in the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA). The former ICC and BCCI chairman is no longer the boss of the TNCA but is still the one who is taking shots at the helm of order.

Srinivasan is currently the member of the TNCA executive committee as a representative of the Perambalur District Cricket Association. The body is one of the five members in the TNCA EC from the districts. According to TNCA sources, Srinivasan will be eligible to attend all BCCI meetings as an EC member if the state association chooses to nominate him.

Lodha Committee’s restrictions

As per the reports from the Lodha Committee, the former BCCI head is not eligible to hold the office-bearer post, as it would involve him in decision making, which is what the Lodha Committee has restricted him from. The TNCA authorities said that as per the constitution of the association, an “EC member is not an office-bearer”.

“Only the president, vice president, secretary and treasurer are office-bearers of TNCA. Srinivasan is now a member in Perambalur DCA and was nominated by them as their representative in the TNCA EC. It was ratified about three months ago. He is certainly not operating as the president of the TNCA,” the source said.

“He was part of the EC meeting that happened earlier this month as an EC member and Srinivasan will be eligible to attend the BCCI meetings if he is nominated by the TNCA in EC meeting or through circular resolutions,” the source added.

According to the Constitution, EC members are allowed to attend the meetings, and discuss their point of views to the Board, and also the Annual General Meeting of the BCCI if they are elected. Srinivasan did attend the TNCA EC meeting that was held on June 3.

The new TNCA president will be chosen in the AGM, the date of which hasn’t been fixed. “There is a possibility of the AGM being conducted in September,” the source concluded.
