Najam Sethi, the chief of Pakistan Super League (PSL), has showered praises on all the six captains of the tournament ahead of its commencement. The opening game of the tournament is all set to be played between Multan Sultans and the defending champions Peshwar Zalmi on February 22 in Dubai. The third edition of the tournament will see six teams fighting it out for the ultimate glory. However, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board has called Darren Sammy as the superstar in his country in his praise.

As far as the skippers are concerned, only two foreign cricketers Brendon McCullum and Sammy are leading their respective teams this year. The remaining four franchises have kept faith on the local players like Imad Wasim, Sarfraz Ahmed, Misbah-ul-Haq and Shoaib Malik. All the players are rated highly in Pakistan and have played or playing in the international arena doing extremely well at the highest level.

Misbah is the greatest captain of Pakistan

Najam Sethi was happy about the fact that the third season of PSL was about to commence on Thursday and hailed the captains of all the six teams. While speaking about Sammy especially he was emotional and went on to call him as the superstar in Pakistan. “Sammy is a superstar back in Pakistan. We are indebted to him for the courage with which he came to Lahore, stood there and won the hearts of everyone. He is a household name in Pakistan,” he was quoted as saying by Gulf News.

Sethi also went on to say that he has never the more humble person than the former Pakistan skipper Misbah-ul-Haq. While terming him as the greatest ever captain of Pakistan he said, “He is possibly the greatest captain, certainly as far as statistics are concerned one of the greatest captains of the Pakistan cricket team. Apart from the laurels that he has piled up at his doorstep — there is a mountain of them — he is a unique man. I haven’t met a more humble person and a truer gentleman. He epitomises the phrase that cricket is a gentleman’s game. I hope other captains emulate him.”

The 69-year-old had words of wisdom for the current skipper of the Men in Green and Quetta Gladiators Sarfraz Ahmed. “He is a man who brought untold joy and ecstasy by winning the Champions Trophy. If someone can lead the Green Shirts, they can lead any side in the world,” he added. Sethi also termed Shoaib Malik as the mainstay of Pakistan’s batting and called Brendon McCullum as the wonderful sportsman before hailing Imad Wasim as one of the best all-rounders in the country.
