Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be cheering for the Women in blue with full enthusiasm as they take on England in the Women’s World Cup final today. While hosts England will have the majority of support at the iconic Lords Stadium, Narendra Modi made sure the Indian team does not fall short of motivation.

In a wonderful gesture, the Prime MInister took to his official Twitter handle and wished the team best of luck ahead of the main event. Not only did he wish the team as a whole, but she wrote a line for each player giving them a pat on their back.

Modi’s tweets:

Modi mentioned that he will be rooting for Mithali Raj and her team along with the 125 crore Indians who will be glued to their TV sets. He also tipped the captain to continue leading from the front as she has been doing throughout the tournament. Writing about Smriti Mandhana, Modi advised her to keep her calm which will help her to bring out her very best as she did in the first two matches of the tournament.

Modi hailed Harmanpreet Kaur for her phenomenal inning in the semi final and hoped for something similar from her today. Poonam Raut was also praised saying that the nations love her talents as a cricketer. Veda Krishnamurthy was applauded for stabilising the middle order while Deepti Sharma’s capability to change the game at any point did not go unmentioned.

Narendra Modi labelled Jhulan Goswami as India’s pride and uttered the phrase of ‘catches wins matches’ for wicketkeeper Sushma Verma. Shikha Pandey’s all-round abilities were complimented by the Prime Minister and he warned the of Poonam Yadav’s deadly bowling talent. To end with, Modi expects an economical bowling display from Rajeshwari Gayakwad.

This is the second time India has entered the finals of the Women’s World Cup, the last being in the year of 2005. Unfortunately for the Indians, they lost the match against Australia at that time at Centurion but will hope to lift the trophy this time.
