Nathan Lyon is all set to get cheered by the crowds in the second Test against Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The crowds are expected to chant in unison and shout “nice Garry” for Lyon in the match. It will be a landmark event and perhaps a world record since a chant in unison of 9000 people is unprecedented. It all started during the first Test match against Pakistan at the Gabba.

Wicket-keeper Matthew Wade was chirping ‘Nice Garry’ from behind the stumps when Nathan Lyon was bowling. Soon, Wade found the crowds interested in the chants. The crowds followed the chant whenever Lyon bowled. The Australian players joined in too. Now, the MCG is set to create the record by chanting the same in a planned manner.

As many as 9000 people will chant ‘Nice Garry’ after the third ball bowled by Nathan Lyon in the match. Reportedly, a Facebook event has also been created for the same. The event has already seen 8500 mark it as ‘Going’. Close to 10000 people have shown interest in the event.

Considering the magnitude of the popularity of the chants, this will be one exciting prospect for the cricket fans to look up to in the Boxing day Test match. The wicket-keeper and bowler partnerships are well known. Ian Healy’s chant of ‘Bowled Warnie’ had become a trademark chant whenever Shane Warne used to bowl. Now, Matthew Wade and Nathan Lyon are taking it to a whole new level.

As per several reports, the chants of ‘Nice Garry’ were heard during the practice sessions too. The Australian players are very excited about it too. Pacer Jackson Bird affirmed the same. He was quoted by cricket.com.au that he would be a part of it.

He quoted, “I think it’s pretty funny … I’ll probably join in as well.  It’s good to see the crowd getting behind Gazza and Wadey. It’s a bit of a running joke in our group now, so we all think it’s pretty funny.”
