Nav Nalanda High School beats Gyan Bharati Vidhyapith by 812 runs

Nava Nalanda High School created a new inter-school cricket record after defeating Gyan Bharati Vidyapith by a whopping 812 runs in Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) organised Mayor’s Cup inter-school cricket tournament.
Batting first Nava Nalanda High School piled up 617/2 in 38 over in the 45 overs a side match riding on centuries from Sreyas Banerjee, Iman Chowdhury and Dipanshu Sarkar. The misery did not end for Gyan Bharati as they conceded 227 runs as a penalty for a slow over rate of seven overs as the bowling team could not complete their quota of overs within the given time period.
Sreyash Banerjee top scored after routing the opposition with his knock of 193 runs from just 78 balls with 32 fours and eight sixes. The other bulk scorers were Iman Chowdhury (179 from 77 balls; 24x4s, 9x6s) and Dipanshu Sarkar (176 from 58 balls; 18x4s, 15x6s) remained unbeaten to give the total a late push.
Batting in reply to gargantuan target, Gyan Bharati were skittled out for 32 in 11.3 overs. Sandip Halder was the wrecker-in-chief with a five for 27-run spell to go down by the huge margin.
Going by this breathtaking match, it seems that the people will now witness run feasts in junior cricket more frequently. Last month, Mumbai Pranav Dhanawade played a mind boggling innings of 1009 runs for KC Gandhi High School against Arya Gurukul School, In an under-16 Schools Cup match organised by the Mumbai Cricket Association.
