The former Indian cricketer and the Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu came under severe scrutiny after he defended Pakistan after Pulwama attack. The comment didn’t go down well with the people in India and #BoycottSidhu started to trend on social media soon. Moreover, the people also threatened to boycott Sony channels and the Kapil Sharma show which goes on air every weekend.
Sidhu is a main guest on the Kapil Sharma show ever since its inception and always graces it with his presence. But his comments after the recent Pulwama attack has led to Sidhu being removed from the show. Archana Puran Singh will replace him on the hot seat in the show.
“His remarks have not been taken kindly by most. Also, the channel and the show was getting dragged into the unwanted controversy. This is when the team amicably decided that Navjot make a distance from the show. The team has already shot a couple of episodes with Archana,” a source was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.
What did Sidhu say?
Navjot Singh Sidhu, on Friday, had said that one can’t blame nations for the terrorist attack due to the wrongdoings from a group of individuals. In other words, he was clearly defending Pakistan on the matter while also condemned the dastard attack.
“Nations cannot be held responsible for the dastardly acts of terrorists. The terrorists do not have deen, mazhab (sect and religion). There are good, the bad and the ugly. Every institution has them. Every nation has them. The ugly need to be punished. But individuals cannot be blamed for the dastardly act,” he had said.
It remains to be seen if Sidhu comes up with any clarification on his comments on the unfortunate attack now after the repercussions.
