Jos Buttler was in scintillating form in the IPL 2022 as he broke and equaled numerous records playing for the Rajasthan Royals. The Englishman has continued his belligerent form in white-ball cricket as he smashed an incredible 47-ball century, the second-fastest ever by an Englishman in ODIs, against the Netherlands in the first ODI.

Buttler, who came in the ODI series after being the leading scorer in IPL 2022, took on the Dutch bowlers on a flattish surface and tonked them all over the park. Incidentally, the top three fastest centuries by an English batter in this format have all been scored by Buttler. He missed out on equaling the record of the fastest century by just one ball, which came in 46 deliveries against Pakistan.

By the time the scores were written, the aggressive batter was still present at the crease with 151 runs, along with 13 sixes to his name. He might be eyeing an unprecedented double hundred for England in the ODIs.

England are on their way to a mammoth total against the Netherlands

Although Jason Roy was dismissed in the second over of the match after being invited to bat first, the English batters wreaked havoc as youngster Phillip Salt registered his maiden ODI century in just his fourth innings. The pair of Salt and Dawid Malan registered a double-century partnership for the second wicket before Salt was dismissed.

The dismissal of Salt brought the in-form Buttler to the crease, who looked like he was playing on the surface for days. The third-wicket partnership between Malan and Buttler saw the hapless Netherlands bowlers suffer even further as they added 184 runs in 90 balls, before Malan’s dismissal after the southpaw also registered his maiden ton for England in the 50-over format.

Liam Livingstone has joined the wicketkeeper batter at the crease after two wickets off successive deliveries, and the all-rounder is even eclipsing Buttler’s innings with his own madness at the crease. The right-hander was at 60 off just 21 deliveries by the time scores were up.
