'Need prayers for a speedy recovery' - Shahid Afridi confirms being tested positive for Coronavirus

The Coronavirus pandemic has continued to wreak havoc across the world even as some of the countries have slowly started to return to normalcy. However, some of the nations are experiencing a peak in cases now. Pakistan is one of the countries having registered more than 1.3 lakh COVID-19 cases so far. And Shahid Afridi is the latest cricketer to be tested for the virus.

Earlier, former first-class cricketers of the country, Zafar Sarfraz and Riaz Sheikh lost their lives due to the pandemic. Even Taufiq Umar was also tested for the Coronavirus last month. However, he recovered from the disease and then urged people to take it seriously and not come out home unnecessarily.

Shahid Afridi confirmed the news of him being tested positive on his official Twitter handle on Saturday. He stated that he wasn’t feeling well and his body was paining a lot since Thursday. For the same reason, he underwent the COVID-19 test only to be found positive. He requested his fans and followers to pray for his speedy recovery and urged them to stay safe and at home as well.

“I’ve been feeling unwell since Thursday; my body had been aching badly. I’ve been tested and unfortunately I’m covid positive. Need prayers for a speedy recovery, InshaAllah #COVID19 #pandemic #hopenotout #staysafe #stayhome,” his tweet read.

Shahid Afridi was very much active travelling over the last few months helping the poor and needy people through his Foundation. He kept his fans updated about the same through his tweets. The foundation extended its helping hand throughout the country and recently, it even helped people in Singapore.

Moreover, he also requested everyone to donate to the foundation so that they help many needy people during these tough times. Rather the likes of Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh had also urged many to donate on humanity grounds. Meanwhile, the likes of Kamran Akmal and Sohail Tanvir among many cricketers wished Shahid Afridi for a speedy recovery from Coronavirus.
