The mystery behind the man who approached the Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed is no more mystery. It is identified that the person who contacted Sarfraz is none other than the same person who provides practice bowlers in PSL and IPL. The man is allegedly identified as Irfan Ansari, who gave the Pakistan skipper a spot-fixing offer.

Ansari approached the 33-year-old cricketer following the 3rd ODI against Sri Lanka, and immediately after which Sarfraz had reported the matter to the ICC.

According to several reports, it could not be confirmed if Irfan Ansari was questioned by the apex body of Cricket. A reporter managed to get him on a conversation, over his mobile in the United Arab Emirates, only for him to reply “this is all humbug.”

Further response

Further, the reporter said that Ansari was in no mood to talk and cut the call saying “I am driving now and will speak to you later”, he said before signing off. It is believed that he has been telling to his friends that he made this offer “jokingly”.

Ansari has been a resident of the United Arab Emirates a Pakistani citizen, who has settled in the middle-east from 1976. According to the Daily Post, it was reported that “He has played cricket for Sharjah Cricket Club and is a Level 2 cricket coach”, the source in Sharjah said exclusively.

“He is still involved in coaching as a part-time coach for different academies”. “He also provides net bowlers to the visiting international teams. He provided net bowlers to the Pakistani teams in the PSL (Pakistan Super League)”. “And yes, he also provided few bowlers to the IPL teams when the IPL matches were held here”, the source confirmed.

It is yet to be seen if Ansari was actually called and questioned by the International Council for Cricket, or was it all a hoax. But as per the allegiance of the various reports, it seems to be true.
