It is only a few hours into 2014 and its effect in the world of cricket can be seen. As New Zealand and West Indies play each other on the 1st of January 2014. Corey Anderson broke the record of fastest ODI ton held by Shahid Afridi of Pakistan previously against  Sri Lanka when he score 100 off 37 balls way back in 1996. Anderson thrashed it by scoring 100 off just 36 balls. He ended up with scoring 131 off 47 balls to record the fastest ODI ton. The feature of his innings was the way he took on the bowlers The ball just seemed to race away to the boundary every time it left his bat. Overall hitting 6 x 4’s and 14 x 6’s. Anderson has provided just a perfect start to the year. It looks like an excitement filled year it will be for every cricket fan. Congratulations Corey Anderson for the World’s fastest ODI ton. No better way to wish a Happy New Year to the country which flipped the calendar earliest in the world.

Corey Anderson’s record breaking ODI ton in the larger context got New Zealand to 283 in a 21-over ODI against West Indies in Queenstown. Something even par standard for T-20 cricket happend in an ODI. This is cricket and its unpredictable nature. We expected some of the hard hitters like a Gayle or a AB De villiers or a MS Dhoni to hold a record which is now in the name of Corey Anderson.
Here is the list of Top 10 fastest ODI hundreds :
