New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson and his wife Sarah Raheem have been blessed with a baby girl. The cricketer himself confirmed the news on Wednesday afternoon. Williamson missed the second and final Test against the West Indies which the hosts won for the same reason and wanted to be with his wife during this period.

A debate has been going on over the cricketers taking paternity leaves ever since India skipper Virat Kohli took one. He is set to miss three Tests against Australia and India will be missing him the most. However, many lauded him for putting family first and Kane Williamson also did the same thing. However, the Kiwis didn’t miss him much with the Caribbean team capitulating once again with the bat.

Coming back to the delightful news of Kane Williamson becoming father, the cricketer took to his official Instagram account to reveal that they have been blessed with a daughter. He welcomed the new member into the family posting a picture with the baby. “Overjoyed to welcome a beautiful baby girl into our family,” the caption on the post read.

When will Kane Williamson return?

Meanwhile, the uncertainty over Kane Williamson’s availability persists. New Zealand Cricket (NZC) selectors have granted him leave for the first T20I of the three-match series against Pakistan which will be played on December 18. However, they are expecting for him to return for the last two matches of the contest.

The selectors have kept the back-up ready as well in case, Williamson needs more time with his family. The second and third T20I are set to be played on December 20 and 22 respectively. Before going on a paternity leave, the Kiwi captain had slammed his career-best 251 in the first Test against West Indies, in a way celebrating the arrival of the baby.

Kane Williamson will soon be looking to join the New Zealand squad and lend solidity to the batting line-up in the upcoming fixtures.
