One of India’s most prominent Test captains, Sourav Ganguly has predicted a 5-0 scoreline for the upcoming Test series between India and England in favour of the home side warning England of a whitewash in the 5-match Test series.

Ganguly’s words have come in awake of India’s brilliant form as a Test team which is yet to lose a series since Virat Kohli has been handed India’s Test captaincy. On the other hand, England have had a tough tour of Bangladesh where they could only level the Test series 1-1 and lost to Bangladesh for the first time in Test cricket. Many have been saying that if they struggled against Bangladesh then it is going to be even harder for them to counter India on their home tracks which is currently the no. 1 Test side in the world.

“India are playing superb cricket. I am expecting another whitewash like the one against New Zealand. They (England) should be worried,” Ganguly told reporters.

Not only Ganguly, even the former England captain, Michael Vaughan is also pretty worried about England’s chances in India. England might have won the last time they toured India but the right-handed batsman said that England need to ‘park the bus’ in order to stave off the threat from the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.

Vaughan compared the current English side to the one that emerged victorious in India in 2012. He said that England are deprived of top-class spinners unlike in 2012 when they had Graeme Swann and even Monty Panesar who proved to be quite destructive at times. Their overall spin attack at present has a combined experience of only 45 Tests. In addition to that, England will also not have their star bowler James Anderson for first few matches.

Only 4 cricketers from England’s 16-men squad have played test cricket in India out of which Joe Root and Steve Finn have played just 1 test each in the country. All these factors make England’s skipper Alastair Cook a very important player in the series for the visitors and if current form is any indication, India will be starting this series as clear favorites.
