The first Test of the Trans-Tasman Cup between New Zealand and Australia lasted just over 3 days and as it turns out the Aussies thumped the home team down to register a huge victory by an innings and 52 runs. The tone of the Test match was set on the very first day as Steve Smith won the toss, invited them to bat first and managed to bowl them out for 183.
Usman Khawaja continued his stupendous batting form and Adam Voges was once again at his very best. The duo ensured Australia didn’t require to bat again and had enough runs to run over New Zealand lineup. There was not much to talk about New Zealand’s batting apart from Brendon McCullum, who recorded a duck in the first innings of his 100th Test.
