Every captain wants to end his career with a series win and Brendon McCullum just achieved that milestone today as New Zealand beat Australia by 55 runs and won the series by 2-1 and retained the Chappell-Hadlee trophy. Australia won the toss and invited the hosts to bat first and McCullum came out with firey intentions in his last ODI and smashed Australian bowlers all over the ground, he and Guptill added 84 runs in just 9.3 overs and after Brendon McCullum’s wicket, the Kiwis managed to reach to a total of 246 runs with Martin Guptill and Grant Elliot’s knocks.
In reply to a target of 247 runs, Australian batsmen started well by hitting some good boundaries but after David Warner’s wicket, Australia did not manage to put up a big partnership and that helped New Zealand win the game. Mitchell Marsh tried hard but found no support from the other end. Ish Sodhi was named the Man of the Match for his 2 wickets and economical bowling performance.
