India’s tour of New Zealand began on a high as India chased down a big total of 204 against the home team in Auckland. After a rest day, the two sides will clash off in the 2nd T20I at the same venue. A total of five batsmen scored fifties at the Eden Park on Friday setting a new T20I record. Hence, the two sides will be preparing to be part of yet another high-scoring match. A win here will help India to stand one win away from sealing the series and also gives them a chance to make experiments in two matches.

0 – India never won consecutive matches against New Zealand in the T20I format. India’s four wins against the Blackcaps in this format have come in alternative matches since 2017.


1 – New Zealand have won only one of their last nine T20Is in Auckland – vs Sri Lanka by 35 runs in 2019. They lost seven of the remaining eight matches in this period while the last year’s T20I decider against England ended in a Tie where the hosts lost in the Super over.


2-0 – India won both the T20I matches they played at the Auckland’s Eden Park. They defeated the hosts by 7 wickets in the game played during the 2019 series and by a 6-wicket margin on Friday. Interestingly, India lost all the four T20Is in New Zealand which they played at a venue outside Auckland.


13 – Ish Sodhi’s 13 wickets in T20I cricket against India are the most wickets for any player in this format against India. He went past Umar Gul’s 11 wickets with the two wickets in the Auckland T20I. Mitchell Santner has 10 wickets and he is 3rd in this list along with Shane Watson and Dushmantha Chameera.


50 – Number of wickets for Ish Sodhi in his 41-match T20I career; he needs one more wicket for reaching 50 T20I wickets. Only Tim Southee (75), Nathan McCullum (58) and Mitchell Santner (50) have completed 50+ wickets for New Zealand in Men’s T20Is.


137.03 – The average batting strike rate at Eden Park in Men’s T20Is is 137.03; the highest at a venue which hosted at least ten T20Is. One century and 31 fifties have been scored across 20 Men’s T20I matches hosted by the Eden Park.


242 – Runs Virat Kohli has scored in the T20I format against New Zealand; the most T20I runs by an Indian against the Blackcaps. He scored those 242 runs across six innings at an average of 48.4 with help of two half-centuries.


307 – Colin Munro has scored the most number of runs in the New Zealand-India T20Is. He amassed 307 runs across 8 matches against India at an average of 43.85 with help of a century and two fifties.


308 – The Eden Park in Auckland is now one of the five venues to witness 300+ sixes in Men’s T20I cricket and the first such venue in New Zealand. A total of 308 maximums have been hit across the 20 Men’s T20I here. At an average, a six has been hit every 14.54 balls in the T20I format at this venue.


9944 – Runs Rohit Sharma has amassed in International Cricket as an opener. Rohit needs 56 more runs to become the 4th Indian opener to complete 10000 International runs. Rohit (13896) can also become the 8th Indian with 14000 runs in International Cricket if he scores 104 runs more.
