Ross Taylor came into the ODI series against India have failed to finish three successive matches in the T20I series which the home team buckled from a winning position. The senior batsman ensured he stood till the last run was scored in the first ODI and helped the Kiwis to take 1-0 lead. His 138-run stand with Tom Latham came in only 79 deliveries and turned the game towards New Zealand. Taylor stood unbeaten on 109 from 84 balls that included 10 fours and four sixes as New Zealand completed their highest successful ODI chase of 348.

4 – The unbeaten ton against India is now the 4th century for Ross Taylor in a 300+ chase in ODI cricket with all four tons resulting in New Zealand victories. He is now only the 3rd player after Virat Kohli (7) and Jason Roy (5) to score four or more hundreds in successful 300+ ODI chases.


4 – Number of centuries in ODIs at the Seddon Park across 17 innings for Taylor; the most ODI hundreds for a New Zealand player at a venue. Taylor surpassed his own record having scored three centuries in this format at the McLean Park in Napier.


10 – The century against India is the 10th in International cricket for Ross Taylor in Hamilton. He is now only the 5th player and the first from New Zealand with 10+ International tons at a venue. The other four players with 10 hundreds at a venue are – Mahela Jayawardene (11 at SSC-Colombo), Ricky Ponting (11 at MCG), Hashim Amla (11 in Centurion) and Jacques Kallis (10 in Cape Town).


20/21 – New Zealand won 20 out of 21 instances while chasing in ODI cricket when Taylor remained unbeaten. The washed-out match against Australia in the 2013 CT was the only time New Zealand couldn’t win despite Taylor remaining unbeaten in the chase.


73 – Taylor’s 73-ball hundred is now the 2nd fastest ODI hundred for New Zealand against India. Jesse Ryder scored a 72-ball hundred during an unsuccessful chase in the 2009 Christchurch ODI.

This is also the 2nd fastest ODI hundred for Taylor behind his 70-ball effort against Pakistan in the 2015 Napier ODI. Taylor and Ryder are the only New Zealand players with multiple ODI hundreds coming in less than 75 deliveries.


1300 – Taylor now has scored 1300 runs in ODI cricket against India; the most by a New Zealand player surpassing Nathan Astle’s 1207 runs. Only Sachin Tendulkar (1750) and Virat Kohli (1354) aggregated more runs in NZ-IND ODIs than Taylor.


2015 – Ross Taylor completed 2000 runs in International cricket at the Seddon Park making him the first player from New Zealand with 2000+ International runs at a venue. Taylor has 871 runs in ODI format at this venue which are also the most ODI runs by a New Zealander at a venue as he surpassed his own tally of 779 ODI runs in Napier which the unbeaten 109.


3986 – Taylor now has scored most runs on New Zealand soil in ODI cricket than any other player. He went past Martin Guptill’s 3942 runs during this match to hold the record of most ODI runs in New Zealand. Ross Taylor already holds the record for most International runs and Test runs on the New Zealand soil.
