The first two matches between India and New Zealand turned out to be one-sided affairs. In the first match, apart from Kane Williamson, the Black Caps skipper, none of the Kiwis’ batsmen could find their feet. The Indian batsmen didn’t have much trouble in gunning down the paltry target. New Zealand were expected to make a comeback in the second ODI at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui.

Nevertheless, the Indian bowling turned out to be a hard nut to crack for the home team. They strained to find their feet against the spinners and subsequently, lost by 90 runs. The hosts are currently trailing the series 0-2 and have everything to play for in the third encounter at the Bay Oval. Virat Kohli and Co, on the contrary, would be keen to seal the fate of the series, winning the next match itself.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch was good for batting the other day and it’s not expected to behave any differently in the upcoming fixture. The likes of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal also showed that the deck had enough for the spinners, especially in the second-half. Kuldeep and Chahal are the specialist spinners with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami being the pacers.
