New Zealand vs India: Anushka Sharma cheers her husband Virat Kohli in the third ODI

2019 has so far been terrific for the Indian cricket team. After a historic Test series win against Australia in their own backyard, the Men in Blue set out to New Zealand for a limited-overs stint. Having been promoted as the ‘Kohli vs Williamson’ contest, the ODI series between India and New Zealand caught a lot of attention.

Although India haven’t had tremendous success against the Kiwis in their soil, the circumstances are different this time around. The side led by an inspiring Virat Kohli has simply outclassed the hosts in the first 3 ODIs, thereby clinching the series on Monday with two more games to spare.  The Indian skipper had once again risen to the occasion and scored a gritty half-century in the 3rd match and his efforts have made a lot of people, including one of his most important people!

After winning the toss, the New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson elected to bat first in the third ODI. Despite a solid partnership between Ross Taylor and Tom Latham, the Black Caps couldn’t manage to put up a big total as they bundled out for 243. Mohammad Shami was once again the pick of the bowlers with three scalps to his name and he was ably supported by fellow pacer Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and the wrist spinner Yuzvendra Chahal.

India, in pursuit of scoring 244 for an ecstatic series win, lost Shikhar Dhawan early. But, the dismissal got the superstars, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli, together, who made life difficult for the opposition bowlers. The captain, in particular, was at his quintessential best as he took time in the beginning and then started dominating the bowlers.

Kohli got to his 49th ODI half-century and raised his bat to acknowledge to the same. His wife Anushka Sharma, who must have had a great time watching his husband bat, stood up and applauded his gritty knock. It’s not the first time that we saw the Bollywood superstar making her presence when her genius husband is at work.
