New Zealand will be locking horns with the Netherlands in the third and final ODI at the Seddon Park in Hamilton on April 4. The hosts will be upbeat heading into this contest having sealed the One Day series 2-0. After an emphatic seven-wicket win in the series opener, the Kiwis registered a convincing 118-run win in the second game courtesy of a brilliant century from stand-in captain Tom Latham.

The Netherlands, on the other hand, would be eyeing a consolation win after being trumped in the last two games.  Their bowling impressed in the last game but couldn’t close out the innings, while the batting performance has been disappointing. Therefore, they would be hoping to bring their A-game in this dead rubber in order to salvage pride.

Pitch Report

The new ball is expected to trouble the batters early on in the innings but they can go on to score big knocks provided they see off the new-ball bowlers nicely and spend some time at the crease. The wicket could get flatter as the game progresses and any total in excess of 275-280 would be difficult to chase. However, since the wicket could help the batters later on, the captain who wins the toss will look to bowl first.

Probable Playing XIs for New Zealand vs Netherlands

New Zealand

Martin Guptill, Tom Latham (c), Henry Nicholls, Ross Taylor, Michael Bracewell (wk), Will Young, Colin de Grandhomme, Matt Henry, Doug Bracewell, Kyle Jamieson, Ish Sodhi

Netherlands

Vikramjit Singh (wk), Max O’Dowd, Boris Gorlee, Bas de Leede, Pieter Seelaar (c), Logan van Beek, Aryan Dutt, Ryan Klein, Philippe Boissevain, Fred Klaassen, Brandon Glover

Probable best batter of the Match: Tom Latham

Tom Latham is certainly the batter to watch out for in this inconsequential third ODI. The Black Caps might have won the ODI series but Latham would definitely want to make a statement with yet another outstanding knock on the 22 yards. The stand-in-captain was adjudged the Man of the Match in the last game for his blistering knock of 140 runs from 123 deliveries. The Dutch will need to end his stay in the middle at the earliest.

Probable best bowler of the Match: Kyle Jamieson

Kyle Jamieson would be hoping to continue his impressive bowling performance in the final game. The tall pacer has been in good form and has managed five scalps in the last two games. After he had registered three scalps in the first game, Jamieson followed it up with figures of 2/22 at an economy rate of 3.1. The front-line fast bowler will yet again be expected to provide vital breakthroughs early on.

Today’s Match Prediction: New Zealand are expected to win.
