Bangladesh Team chased down a mammoth total of 215 runs against Sri Lanka in the third T20 game of the Nidahas Trophy to clinch their first win of the tri-nation series. At R.Premadasa Stadium that favours bowlers the most, Bangladesh sealed the fourth highest successful chase in T20 cricket and biggest in Sri Lanka. Mushfiqur Rahim played some dazzling shots to help his chase and remained unbeaten when the winning runs were struck.

His superlative innings off 72 runs in just 35 deliveries involved five boundaries and four mighty sixes. However, the best moment of the game came right at the end when Rahim struck the ball towards midwicket and scored the winning runs. Rahim couldn’t control his emotions and rejoiced the victory with a unique celebration. He looked straight into the eye of the bowler Thisara Perera and then pulled-off a hilarious nagin dance facing towards his teammates.

Put in to bat, Sri Lanka spanked Bangladesh bowlers to all around the park to post a total that many would have believed would be enough to get the win. However, During the chase, the openers were able to provide a rock-solid start as they contributed 74 runs together. The solidity at the top helped the coming batsman to try their shots and not let the required rate notch up.

Further, sending a left-right combination by promoting Liton Das up the order helped men-in-green. Soumya Sarkar, who batted before Rahim struggled a bit as he was able to contribute run a ball 22 runs. With all three teams having a win each, it will be interesting to see as how they approach the next leg in this short tournament.

The twists and turns have led the populous witness the exciting encounters. India will be up against Sri Lanka for their third game which is scheduled to take place on 12th March (Monday).
