Nikita Miller replaces Sunil Narine in the West Indies squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015: Left arm spinner Nikita Miller has been named in the West Indies world cup 2015 squad as a replacement for star off-spinner Sunil Narine.

The decision was made as a result of Sunil Narine pulling out of the world cup 2015 squad. Sunil Narine was called twice during the Champions league T20 tournament last September for illegal action. Though Narine has not been banned from bowling in international cricket, he opted to pull out of the world cup squad citing that he needs more time to bowl confidently with his new remodeled action.

Both Narine and Miller played in the NAGICO50 tournament while Narine picked 6/9 in the finals and helped Trinidad and Tobago clinch the title and Miller picked  only 6 wickets in four matches at an economy of 2.32.

Narine said in the WICB press release that “Playing for Red Force and winning the NAGICOSuper50 has been a big boost, but going in to the World Cup is a little too much too soon and, after consulting the WICB, for both West Indies and my sake we have decided to delay my return to international cricket until I am 100% confident in all that I do,”

Nikita Miller has played 45 ODI’s for West Indies and has claimed 40 wickets so far. He will now become the second left arm spinner in the squad along with the experienced Suleiman Benn.
The ICC Cricket World cup begins on 14th February and West Indies have been grouped along with South Africa, Pakistan, Zimbabwe, United Arab Emirates and defending champions India. West Indies will play their first match of the tournament two days later against Ireland at Nelson, New Zealand.

Revised West Indies World Cup squad: Jason Holder (capt), Marlon Samuels, Suleiman Benn, Darren Bravo, Jonathan Carter, Sheldon Cottrell, Chris Gayle, Nikita Miller, Denesh Ramdin, Kemar Roach, Andre Russell, Darren Sammy, Lendl Simmons, Dwayne Smith, Jerome Taylor.
