The 2021 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) witnessed some fascinating action between the bat and the ball. While many prominent T20 stars showcased their prowess in the tournament, several youngsters also burst onto the scenes. However, the prestigious title was eventually lifted by Multan Sultans, who defeated Peshawar Zalmi by 47 runs in the final. Every member of the Sultans camp would have been delighted with the title triumph and Mushtaq Ahmed is no exception.

The spin bowling coach of the franchise, Ahmed, in an interaction, lauded his players for coming back from behind and clinching the elusive title. The former Pakistan leg-spinner even went on to label PSL as the best T20 league in the whole world. He claimed that several foreign players have told him they enjoy the high-quality cricket in the PSL as it helps them in improving their skills.

“PSL is the best league in the world. I have spoken to many foreign players and they have told me that they haven’t faced such tough bowling anywhere. Take IPL, Big Bash or England’s T20 blast, no league has the kind of bowlers that PSL has. Every PSL franchise has 2-3 bowlers who can bowl at speeds of 135 (kmph) plus. There are so many mystery spinners as well,” said Mushtaq while speaking to Cricket Pakistan.

PSL is lucky to have such high-quality bowlers: Mushtaq Ahmed

“International players who have spoken to me have said that they love to play PSL because they get to play tough cricket and that helps them raise their games. PSL is lucky to have such high-quality bowlers, which entices foreign players to take part in the league,” he added.

The 51-year-old also asserted that Pakistan cricket is benefitting from the competition with several new faces shining against international stars. “I give credit for it to PCB and all the six franchises. Pakistan is benefiting from the league as the national squad gets a lot of talent from here. I hope Pakistan keep finding superstars from the PSL,” asserted Ahmed.

Speaking of the young faces making a mark in PSL 2021, Shahnawaz Dahani is unarguably the biggest find of this season. The uncapped fast bowler delivered sensational spells and played a crucial role in taking Multan Sultans to glory. In fact, he finished the tournament as the highest wicket-taker, having scalped 20 wickets in 11 games.
