India has recently finished with their T20I series against South Africa, where they failed to register their first series win against South Africa in the shortest format of the game. The first match of the series was interrupted by the rain, in 2nd, India defeated the guests whereas in Bengaluru, South Africa made a strong comeback and defeated India.
Now, India started their Test series against the Proteas and this is the first time that Indian fans will get to see their players at home in the white jersey after a year. The last home series that they played in Test format came in October 2018 against West Indies. Virat Kohli and Co. will most likely grab the optimum points in this series to consolidate its position in the league table of ICC Test Championship.
As per the rule, there was press conference laid down by the management ahead of a match for the journalists but in the recently concluded T20I series against South Africa the number of journalists that attended the conference was very less or it can be said that there was nothing for the journalists to commercialize for their News Channels.
Indian skipper’s sarcastic angle
But on 1st October 2019, during the press conference that was done ahead of the inaugural match of the Test series against Proteas, the Indian skipper was pretty amazed to see the count of journalists and reporters available inside the conference room. Kohli felt everyone was chilling during the T20I series, “Nobody (from the media) turns up for T20Is. Everyone’s just chilling,” Indian skipper sarcastically quoted.
Earlier Quinton De Kock also referred the conference held ahead of the 2nd T20I in Mohali as a “dull one” and the questions asked to him were so less that he himself asked the reporters that if that was it for the session.
Virat Kohli did some important announcement in the conference related to the playing XI for the 1st Test match. He confirmed that Wridhiman Saha will be the wicketkeeper for the match and confirmed that Rohit Sharma will open the innings for the match. Saha played his last Test in January 2018 and then his injuries ruled him out of the team, but now Pant has been given preference for the series opener just because of his consistent bad form with the bat.
