Ahead of IPL 2021 auction, the Chennai Super Kings have released six players out of their pool, and the names didn’t surprise anyone. CSK decided to let go of Harbhajan Singh, Piyush Chawla, Kedar Jadhav, Monu Kumar. Besides them, Shane Watson has also been released by the yellow franchise, who already bid farewell to the league after the conclusion of IPL 2020. The coming auction will be really significant for CSK in terms of their squad management and planning after failing terribly last year.

After releasing Kedar Jadhav and Piyush Chawla, CSK added in huge amount in their purse before moving into the auction. The MS Dhoni-led franchise had only INR 15 lakh in their purse, but after offloading six players, they had 22.9 crores in their bag, but now the amount is not the same anymore. Currently, CSK has 19.9 crores as their budget as they decided to rope in veteran Robin Uthappa in an all-cash deal.

Robin Uthappa didn’t have a great season with Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2020. However, after releasing six players, CSK decided to rope in Uthappa the very next day from RR after offering an amount of INR 3 crore. Since it was an all-cash deal, the purse of RR has gone up to INR 37.85 crore, and they can easily choose to get lavish while picking any of their favourites in coming up auctions.

Uthappa, who was once an orange cap holder in the fancy tournament, currently has a total of 4607 runs under his belt. After getting dropped from KKR, he was snapped by Rajasthan Royals at a handsome amount of 3 crores. The auctions are all set to take place on February 18, and it will be a thing to see how cleverly CSK chooses its players there.

The decision that surprised all the people following the retention ceremony was, CSK decided to retain their star batsman Suresh Raina who left the Chennai camp midway in IPL 2020. It was reported that he had to leave for India from the bio bubble in UAE, owing to some personal commitments.
