West Indies Cricket board President Dave Cameron has been on the receiving end of criticisms ever since the Windies clinched their second ever World T20 title. a beleaguered Dave Cameron defended himself while addressing the media in Barbados stating that the reports suggesting that he was here to destroy the game were completely absurd.
“I am not here to destroy the game. We just won three World titles and the feeling is I want to mash it up,” Cameron told the Nation newspaper in Barbados.”I can’t believe some of the criticism I am receiving. It is absurd.”
Cameron had been on the receiving end when the West Indies players organized a walk-out courtesy of dispute over pay issues. “My heart is with the Caribbean 100 per cent. I am a Caribbean man. I am for the good of West Indies cricket,” Cameron stressed, in his defense.
The Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Ralph Gonsalves had earlier slammed Cameron and had called for the latter’s subsequent resignation. The WICB president has been on the receiving end of a lot of stick following his infamous tweets. Apart from a Chris Gayle tweet last year, Cameron had tweeted regarding the outburst of West Indies skipper Darren Sammy.
“I have had a lot of criticism about a tweet that has gone on my timeline. Go to my timeline and look. There are motivational tweets on my timeline every day. Why could someone not used that tweet to say I was saying to Darren Sammy and Marlon Samuels to do not let the critics get to you.
“I have also tweeted to Darren Sammy and Stafanie Taylor wishing them luck. History will be kind to me. I will be vindicated,” he said.
