Team India registered a historic win in the first Test at Adelaide in the ongoing Test series against Australia. The match went right down the wire and it was a close win for the visitors. It was a thorough team effort that helped the Virat Kohli-led side draw first blood. Among the many Indian players who had a great time in the Test match was Rishabh Pant.

The new Indian Test recruit equalled the world record for taking the most number of catches in a Test match – 11 catches. He equalled the record held by Jack Russell and AB de Villiers. He managed to break the Indian record of 10 catches in a Test match by Wriddhiman Saha.

Well, the catches were not the only moments of glory for the youngster. Earlier in the game, he had also taken the attack to the Australian spinner Nathan Lyon to get the crowds moving on their feet. The blitz did not last too long though.

Commentators go silent

Another interesting time of the game when Rishabh Pant owned the limelight was in the fag end of the Test. Pat Cummins was blocking almost every delivery that R Ashwin bowled. He even missed out on a couple of loose deliveries. He was quick to chirp and sledge, “Let’s see some sixes, come on Patty”, “Not going for the shots Patty?”

The commentators found humor in it too and decided to go silent during the over. The broadcasters only played the stump mic audio in the over. After the game, Rishabh Pant reflected back at the moment and remarked that he loves to get to the head of the batters with his words. “I always enjoy troubling batsmen. I love it when they concentrate on me and not on the bowlers,” Pant remarked after the game.
