Team India is suffering criticism from different quarters for their dismal show in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021. Having lost their first two fixtures, the Men in Blue are virtually out of the semi-final race and the cricket fraternity is not amused. After all, the star-studded Indian team wasn’t even able to put up a substantial fight against Pakistan and New Zealand.

While their batters constantly struggled against swinging deliveries, Indian bowlers failed to take wickets in crucial times. As nothing has gone India’s way so far, many experts and former cricketers have slammed the poor campaign of the inaugural-season champions. Skipper Virat Kohli has also faced a lot of flak as his strategies haven’t worked so far. Also, he got out for just nine runs during the crucial clash against New Zealand.

However, former Indian skipper Mohammad Azharuddin feels Kohli shouldn’t be blamed alone as it has been a failure of entire team, management, and support staff. “Virat Kohli is facing criticism but it’s the entire team and the coaches that have failed and not just one man. It turned out to be a scary Halloween for Indian fans. #INDvsNZ #T20WORLDCUP,” said Azharuddin in a tweet.

Meanwhile, skipper Virat Kohli didn’t hesitate in admitting that his side got entirely outplayed against the Kiwis. He also said Team India wasn’t able to execute its plans precisely.

“I don’t think we were brave enough with bat or ball. We didn’t have much to defend but we weren’t brave when we walked onto the field. Whenever we looked to take the game on, we lost a wicket. That happens in T20 cricket when some hesitation set in,” Kohli said after the match.

Meanwhile, India’s chances of going through the semi-finals have gone thinner with two back-to-back losses. They don’t have matters in their own hands anymore. In order to advance to the next stage, the Men in Blue will have to depend upon other match results alongside winning their remaining fixtures comprehensively.

The inaugural-edition champions are slated to take on Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia in their remaining league-stage fixtures. As India’s net run rate is also on the lower side, they must aim to all these encounters handsomely.
