England captain Jos Buttler was absolutely delighted at his team’s win last night. England ended the unbeaten run at home of Bangladesh. Having won the last 6 series at home, Bangladesh were not the pushovers anymore. England came up with really good performances to overhaul the streak. The English speaker spoke about the team’s morale after the match. He clearly summed it up by saying that his side was confident of winning.

Jos Buttler remarked that the defeat in 2nd ODI was an alarm call. The team paid heavily for being complacent. More importantly, the defensive start to the run chase gave them a setback. “I think we probably learnt from the other day when we were tentative,” quoted Buttler. He further added that the team management discussed the same prior to the decider game. He revealed that the plan was to be aggressive right from the start.

He commended the openers for doing that. While Sam Billings struck a brilliant maiden fifty, James Vince got a start too. “Guys were made aware of that. We had a good chat before we went out to bat. We wanted to be aggressive. I thought the two guys did that fantastically well,” added Buttler.

Jos Buttler was named the stand-in skipper after regular captain Eoin Morgan pulled out of the tour. Buttler had a good start to his captaincy career with a 2-1 win and had won all tosses in the series. He acknowledged the importance of building partnerships upfront. He lauded the team’s effort in the chase especially citing the low scoring chases in Bangladesh. It was a young and inexperienced side that toured and eventually came up triumphs.

“You need to get off to a good start. There were partnerships that built and in the end we ran with their momentum. We lost a few wickets that kept Bangladesh interested. We did enough. Chases haven’t been high here so to go and do that with a young and inexperienced side is a testament for us,” remarked the English captain.

He admitted that he did not believe that the task would be easy (chasing 270+), but was confident in the team’s ability. “I didn’t think it was going to be easy but I was confident,” said Buttler. He reiterated the importance of a good start. He rightly said that he was determined to play hard and aggressive, even if it meant losing the game.

“The start was going to be crucial. Even if we did lose, I wanted us to lose in the fashion the way we want to play: be aggressive, take the game to the opposition. The openers set the tone brilliantly,” he remarked.

In the bowling department, he hailed the performances of the spinners. He said the experiences of the World T20 2014 helped them prepare. Adil Rashid picked up 2 four-wicket hauls in the series. “Looking back to the 2014 T20 World Cup when we played here, there was a lot of dew. We knew the ball would skid a lot. We knew it would be easier to bat second. It was quite tacky at the start which suited our spinners, who bowled really well,” he conceded.
