As expected New Zealand has won yet another ODI series and defeated Sri Lanka by 3-1 by winning the 5th match at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. Martin Guptill has continued good form and registered his 10th century in ODIs in this 5th ODI match against Sri Lanka and created and broken many records. Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor helped New Zealand put up a challenging total of 294 by scoring fifties.
Now it was up to Dilshan and Mathews to score big runs and help Sri Lanka to level the series but Matt Henry who has emerged as a terrific strike bowler for New Zealand in the series picked up Danushka Gunathilaka and Lahiru Thirimannme early while Boult who was playing his first match of the series picked up Dilshan when he was on five and then it was all up to Angelo Mathews who fought hard and scored 95 runs but it was not enough to beat New Zealand and the Kiwi’s eventually won the match by 36 runs. Matt Henry took five wickets in this 5th ODI while Boult took three wickets to help NZ seal the series.
