Old horse Jagmohan Dalmiya all set to re-hold the position of BCCI president: It seems like N. Srinivasan has given up the hope of becoming BCCI president again. The two warring factions led by Srinivasan and Sharad Pawar are both claiming Jagmohan Dalmiya as their candidate for the vacant post for which the elections will take place on Monday in Chennai.
Jagmohan Dalmiya currently is the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal. He filed his nomination papers with support from his own association, the National Cricket Club in Kolkata and the four other east zone associations. The deadline for filing nominations for the election is 3pm on March 1.
It is the East zone’s turn to nominate the president for the three-year ter. So Dalmiya needs a candidate from the East zone to become the president and hold the post. Both Sharad Pawar and N.Srinivasan approached Dalmiya to be the candidate from their sides. Srinivasan’s group asked Dalmiya to pick either the post of president or be the “chief patron”, a position that doesn’t currently exist in the BCCI.
