Oman D10 2022: Day 5- Round Up

The fifth day of the ongoing Oman D10 tournament saw in action the six teams with three matches being played. While the first two games turned out to be high-scoring encounters, the day ended with a fairly low-scoring affair. However, in all three games, chasing proved to be extremely difficult.

In the first game of the day, the Ghubrah Giants were at the receiving end of some shellacking after opting to field first. Shoaib Khan (41) and Suraj Kumar (57*) batted exceptionally well for them to propel the Qurum Thunders to 127 runs in their 10 overs. None of the other batters could make an impact but the duo’s brilliant batting helped them post a mammoth score.

In response, the Giants were never in the chase, mustering only 68 runs for the loss of five wickets in their 10 overs. Dean Foxcroft opened the innings and stayed unbeaten on 31. But he got little support from the other end as they eventually lost the game by 59 runs.

The second match of the day witnessed Azaiba XI continuing their dominance. This time around they defeated Darsait Titans after opting to bat first. Arsalan Bashir smashed 63 runs off just 26 balls with three fours and six sixes to help his side post 123 runs in their 10 overs. In response, the Titans kept losing wickets at regular intervals to reach only 70 runs for the loss of nine wickets to lose the game by 53 runs.

The third and final game of the day turned out to be a thriller with Amerat Royals winning against Bousher Busters in the last over thriller. After opting to bat first, Asif Khan’s 25-ball 39 propelled the Busters to reach 94 runs for the loss of four wickets. In response, the Royals, despite a collapse, hung in to stay alive in the chase thanks to cameos from Akshay Patel and Vinayak Shukla to eventually win the game off the final ball hitting a six.
