Oman D10 Cup 2022: Day 4 - Round Up

Three more games were played on the fourth day of the ongoing Oman D10 Cup. Azaiba XI, Amerat Royals and Qurum Thunders emerged victorious in their respective matches on the day. It was also a high-scoring day with the Royals posting 175 runs on the board in their 10 overs in the first match of the day.

After opting to bat first, the Royals were propelled by a scintillating 112-run opening stand in just 5.4 overs. Pratik Athavale and Akshay Patel slammed 65 and 50 runs respectively. Though they lost a couple of quick wickets then, Vinayak Shukla had other ideas at the back end of the innings. He smashed an unbeaten 33 off just 9 balls to take his side to 175 runs in 10 overs.

Darsait Titans, in response, did well to reach 126 runs for the loss of five wickets in their 10 overs. But once they got off to a poor start, the 176-run chase was always going to be a tough one for them.

In the second game of the day, Azaiba XI posted a competitive score of 99/6 in their 10 overs thanks to 36-run knock each by Arsalan Bashir and Rao Waqar. With the ball, the Azaiba XI were exceptional restricting the opposition batters without picking up more than three wickets. Ghubrah Giants were themselves to be blamed who couldn’t chase down 100 runs and ended with 90/3 in their 10 overs.

Kashif Ali (34) and Dean Foxcroft (41) made the best of their efforts to get over the line. But their efforts weren’t enough in the end as they lost the game by nine runs.

The trend of batting first after winning the toss continued in the final game of the day as well. Ruwi Rangers scored 113/6 in 10 overs thanks to quick-fire contributions from Shafqatullah, Mohamed Usmani and Naseem Khushi. In response Kashyap Prajapati led the way for the Qurum Thunders with an unbeaten 79 off 28 balls. They chased down the target only in 8 overs.
