In the same context, former Indian pacer RP Singh, who was in close association with MS during his playing days, came out with an interesting revelation. Singh told that once the former captain promised him that he would pick their calls in half-a-ring once he bows out of the international cricket.

“He has always been a down to earth and very composed person. We used to complain that he never takes our calls. Once he told Munaf (Patel) and I, that, when he retires, he would pick up the phone in just half-a-ring. Now we will check if really has retired. We always exploited his extra allowance, which captains are entitled to! On a serious note, cricketers’ off-field interactions are not very different from ones on the field. We often end up talking about matches and players, so it was fun with him,” RP Singh told Cricket.com

MS was a completely different beast: RP Singh

Talking about the illustrious career of CSK skipper, he has been one of the most successful captains, the cricket world has seen so far. He had in his bag each ICC milestone starting from 2007 World T20, ICC World Cup 2011 to ICC Champions Trophy 2013. He drew curtains on his sparkling career on 15 August 2020 and left millions of fans speechless.
