The Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans (GT) find themselves in a spot of bother in the ongoing IPL 2024 (Indian Premier League). Having played five games in the tournament so far, the 2022 champions have only managed to win two matches and lose the remaining three.
Recently, GT lost their clash against Lucknow Super Giants at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, on Sunday, April 7. Bowling first, Gujarat limited Lucknow to a reasonable total of 163 runs after a brilliant bowling display. However, it was the time of chasing the target when things went south for the side. Openers Sai Sudharshan and Shubman Gill were sent back to the pavilion for 31 and 19 runs, respectively.
Kane Williamson departed for just one run with Vijay Shankar scoring 17 and Rahul Tewatia adding 30. After Lucknow’s brilliant bowling, Gujarat were bundled out for just 130 runs, losing the game by 33 runs. After the game, skipper Shubman Gill came forward to talk about the clash, and it is safe to say that the captain was not impressed with what he saw. The star batter scrutinised Gujarat’s batting unit and opined that their performance let the side down.

"It was a good wicket to bat on, a poor batting performance by us. We got a decent start, but we lost wickets in the middle and could not recover from that. Our bowlers were exceptional as they restricted them to 160-odd, just that our batters let us down,” Gill was quoted as saying by NDTV.
Miller is a kind of a player who can change a game in a couple of overs: Gill
Furthermore, Shubman Gill also talked about the absence of star batter David Miller due to injury. The skipper branded the South African big-hitter as a player who can change the game within a matter of minutes. Besides, he also expressed his disappointment over not being able to make good use of the last phase of the powerplay which changed the complexion of the game later on.

"Miller is a kind of a player who can change a game in a couple of overs, because I think this total was very gettable for us. (On his dismissal) I thought it was the last over of the powerplay and I just wanted to make the most of it, just that I missed that ball as I tried to play a bit too square. It was tremendous to watch our bowlers bowl, we were looking forward to restricting them around 160-165,” Gill concluded.
