India is gearing to face Sri Lanka in the limited-overs series starting on July 18. Ahead of the six white-ball matches, the players are sweating it out in the gym and playing intra-squad games. Meanwhile, the six uncapped players among the 20-member squad had a photoshoot in which the youngsters seem pretty relaxed and happy.

Apart from the new faces, the squad boasts of few experienced players too as the likes of Shikhar Dhawan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Hardik Pandya, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Kuldeep Yadav are in the mix. This series will be particularly important for both spinners Chahal and Yadav, who of late are not in the selectors’ scheme of things.

While the former was part of the limited-overs series against England, the latter was not part of the series as well didn’t get to play games in the first half of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

With a weakened Sri Lanka squad that is lacking form and momentum, it will be a good chance for the duo of ‘Kul-Cha’ to make a comeback to the Indian team.

Ahead of the first ODI, the duo seemed to be having some fun time while playing dumb charades. Yadav was helping Chahal with identifying the players, and the duo shared a laugh and seemed positive, heading into the six international matches against the Lankan Lions.

Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav are vital for team India

The Chahal and Yadav combination burst into the scene in 2017 and helped Indian skipper Virat Kohli win games for the next two years. If one spinner would take wickets, then the other would ensure to keep the pressure on the batters right till the end. The duo’s impact with the ball skittled the opposition teams to a total below 250 and gave Kolhi the license to go for the kill all the time.

But with their declining form after the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, the duo slowly went away from the team. The management preferred Washington Sunder, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel in recent years. The pair last played together in a league game against England during the 2019 World Cup. This series against Sri Lanka could well change things for the ‘Kul-Cha’ combination.
