Pakistan A vs England Lions: Hosts name 13-man squad for only four-day fixture
Mohammad Rizwan is set to captain the team.
After their series’ against New Zealand A, Pakistan A are scheduled to play one unofficial Test, five unofficial One Dayers and a couple of unofficial T20s against England Lions. The first-class match is scheduled to take place from Sunday, November 18 at Sheikh Zayed Stadium Nursery 1 in Abu Dhabi. The One Dayers and 20-overs encounters start on November 25 and December 7 respectively.
In the meantime, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has named a 13-man squad for the unofficial Test. Wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan has been appointed as the captain. Khurram Manzoor and Shan Masood, the left-hand and right-hand combo, are most likely to open the batting. Saad Ali, who recently got a national call-up for the first two Tests against New Zealand, is also a part of the squad.
Quite a few international stars
Pakistan are currently playing the first Test against New Zealand in Abu Dhabi and Saad isn’t a part of the eleven. Hence, he would like to perform against the Lions and try to break into the eleven for the second Test, which starts on November 24 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The squad for the third Test hasn’t yet been announced and Saad would want to keep himself in contention.
Rizwan, being one of the team’s most experienced players, have to lead from the front in order to get the opponents on the mat. Fast bowler Ehsan Ali, who also has played international cricket for Pakistan, needs to bring forth all his experience.
Pakistan A had a topsy-turvy season against New Zealand A. They lost the three-match T20 series 2-1 after winning the opening match at ICC Academy in Dubai. Thereafter, they thumped their opponent 3-0 in the One Day series. However, both unofficial Tests ended in a draw.
